Tanya Barber

Tanya Barber is an experienced private practice Educational and Developmental Psychologist with an area of endorsed practice with APHRA. Tanya has a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science (Psychology), Post Graduate Diploma (Psychology) and Masters Degree in Psychology (Educational and Developmental). Tanya has an interest in the comprehensive assessment of neurodiversity (ASD and ADHD), cognition and learning in children and adolescents. Tanya’s assessments aim to identify the unique support needs of each individual. Tanya has extensive experience in:

• Assessment of Ability (IQ) using a number of cognitive assessment instruments (WPPSI-IV, WISC-V & WAIS-IV)

•  Assessment of progress with learning (WIAT-III)

• Assessment of Specific Learning Disorders (previously known as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia)

• Assessment of neurodevelopmental disorders such as Attention Deficit, Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) & Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Tanya works closely with parents, schools, General Practitioners, Psychiatrists, Paediatricians and intervention providers such as Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists. Tanya includes a parent feedback session at the conclusion of all assessments.

Services Include:

Autism Spectrum Diagnosis 

Includes ASD screen, ADOS 2, ADI-R, developmental history, parent & teacher screenings & observations. May also involve adaptive function & screening for attention difficulties.

ADHD Diagnosis

Includes developmental history, parent & teacher ADHD questionnaire assessments, cognitive & academic assessment with child/adolescent and social & emotional screening.

Cognitive and Learning Assessments 

Includes assessment of cognitive ability and core learning skill. Review of past & current academic function. Screening for social & emotional function. May include specific screening assessment.
